Description

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human hemoglobin subunit alpha (HBA1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with human samples, with specificity for natural and recombinant human hemoglobin subunit alpha.

Performance specifications include a detection range of 1.56-100ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.78ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is reported at 4.6% and inter-assay CV at 8.9%. Spike-and-recovery testing showed an average recovery of 102% (range 96-108%) in serum and 104% (range 98-110%) in plasma, and linearity was demonstrated across serial dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma samples.

Hemoglobin subunit alpha, also known as alpha-globin or hemoglobin alpha chain (UniProt P69905), is involved in oxygen transport from the lung to peripheral tissues and forms heterotetramers of two alpha chains with two beta chains in adult hemoglobin A, with delta chains in HbA2, with epsilon chains in embryonic Gower-2, and with gamma chains in fetal hemoglobin F. The kit is intended for research use only.
