Human Heme oxygenase 2 (HMOX2) ELISA Kit

The Assay Genie sandwich ELISA kit is designed for quantitative measurement of human Heme oxygenase 2 (HMOX2), also referred to by the synonyms HO-2 and HO2. Intended for research use only, the assay shows reactivity with human samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Specificity is reported for both natural and recombinant human Heme oxygenase 2.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.082 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.1%, and an inter-assay CV of 7.6%. Linearity has been evaluated across serial dilutions (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16) in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma. Recovery averages 103% in serum (range 97–109%) and 105% in plasma (range 99–111%).

HMOX2 is an enzyme that cleaves the heme ring at the alpha methene bridge to form biliverdin, contributing to heme catabolism, cellular iron ion homeostasis, and the cellular response to oxidative stress and hypoxia. The constitutive HMOX2 isoform is implicated in the production of carbon monoxide in the brain. The target protein is localised to the microsome and endoplasmic reticulum (UniProt P30519).
