Description

Assay Genie supplies this competitive ELISA kit using a colorimetric detection method for the detection of human heat-stable enterotoxin receptor (GUCY2C), also referred to as guanylyl cyclase C, intestinal guanylate cyclase, GC-C, STA receptor, GUC2C, or STAR. The kit is intended for research use only and is reactive with human samples. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Specificity is reported for both natural and recombinant human heat-stable enterotoxin receptor.

Performance characteristics documented by the manufacturer include a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Precision is reported as an intra-assay CV of 4.2% and an inter-assay CV of 7.8%. Recovery in serum averaged 99% (range 93-105%) and in plasma averaged 101% (range 95-107%). Linearity was assessed in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16.

The heat-stable enterotoxin receptor (GUCY2C) is an intestinal receptor for the E. coli heat-stable enterotoxin and for the endogenous peptides guanylin and uroguanylin. The receptor contributes to regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance in the gastrointestinal system, and dysregulation has been linked to gastrointestinal disorders. The associated UniProt accession is P25092, and the receptor is described as a homotrimeric single-pass type I membrane protein localised to the cell membrane and endoplasmic reticulum.
