The HAV-IgM immunoassay from Assay Genie delivers qualitative determination of immunoglobulin M antibodies directed against hepatitis A virus in human serum or plasma specimens. Because IgM is the earliest class-specific marker, appearing within days of symptom onset and remaining detectable for roughly three to six months, the assay is widely applied to confirm acute HAV infection and to distinguish recent exposure from past immunity in clinical and epidemiological settings.

Each kit is supplied as a complete indirect ELISA workflow built around a pre-coated microplate, calibrators, positive and negative controls, enzyme conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent. Researchers load 50 µL of sample per well, follow the supplied incubation sequence, and record the colorimetric endpoint on a standard plate reader. The human-specific capture antibody panel minimises cross-reactivity with other immunoglobulin classes and with related hepatitis viruses, supporting confident interpretation of borderline results.

For laboratory handling, unopened components are stored refrigerated and protected from light; reconstituted working solutions should be aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Intended for in vitro research use only, the assay supports diagnostic laboratories, surveillance programmes, and translational research groups studying enterically transmitted hepatitis.
