Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of Human Haptoglobin-related protein (HPR) in human biological samples. The kit has been validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Haptoglobin-related protein.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78-50ng/ml, a sensitivity of 0.43ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 2.8% and an inter-assay CV of 7.3%. Linearity in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma has been assessed across dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with reported ranges of 82-94% to 88-98% in serum, 103-113% to 109-119% in EDTA plasma, and 92-101% to 108-118% in heparin plasma. Average recovery is 84% (range 80-90%) in serum and 86% (range 80-92%) in plasma.

Haptoglobin-related protein is a primate-specific plasma protein associated with apolipoprotein L-I (apoL-I)-containing high-density lipoprotein (HDL), a particle known as trypanosome lytic factor-1 (TLF-1) that mediates human innate immune protection against many species of African trypanosomes. The protein binds hemoglobin with high affinity and may contribute to the clearance of cell-free hemoglobin to allow hepatic recycling of heme iron. It is secreted into blood plasma, is associated with subtypes of HDL, and has a reported molecular weight of 43,078 Da (UniProt P00739). For research use only.
