2-Hydroxyacyl-CoA lyase 1 (HACL1) is a peroxisomal enzyme that catalyzes the thiamine pyrophosphate-dependent cleavage of 2-hydroxyphytanoyl-CoA into formyl-CoA and pristanal. This thiamine-dependent reaction is a central step in the alpha-oxidation pathway that processes phytanic acid and other 3-methyl-branched fatty acids, and dysfunction in HACL1 has been associated with Refsum disease and related peroxisomal biogenesis disorders. The Assay Genie Human HACL1 ELISA Kit enables laboratories to quantify this enzyme across human-derived specimens with reproducible immunoassay chemistry.

Intended for research use only, the kit supports investigations spanning hepatology, neuroscience, and inherited metabolic disease research. Scientists examining peroxisomal function, regulation of alpha-oxidation, or the cellular consequences of branched-chain fatty acid accumulation can deploy the assay to characterize HACL1 levels in cell culture lysates, tissue homogenates, and samples prepared under standard protocols. Each kit is supplied as a complete reagent set in microplate format, supporting high-throughput workflows and adaptable to studies of peroxisomal gene regulation, oxidative stress responses, and lipid homeostasis.
