Description

Designed by Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of human Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-3 (GNB3), this sandwich ELISA kit is reactive with human samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The colorimetric assay delivers a detection range of 0.78-50ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.19ng/ml, with an intra-assay CV of 5.1% and an inter-assay CV of 10.2%. The kit is for research use only.

The assay shows specificity for natural and recombinant human GNB3. Recovery is reported as an average of 91% (range 85-97%) in serum and 93% (range 87-99%) in plasma, and linearity has been demonstrated across serial dilutions in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. The target protein (UniProt P16520, 37kDa) is a heterotrimeric G protein beta subunit; the beta and gamma chains support GTPase activity, GDP-to-GTP exchange and G protein-effector interaction, and the subunit interacts with RASD2.

The associated gene, GNB3, encodes a WD repeat G protein beta subunit involved in G-protein coupled receptor signalling, synaptic transmission, regulation of blood pressure and energy reserve metabolism. A C825T polymorphism in this gene has been associated with essential hypertension and obesity and has been linked to the GNB3-s splice variant. The kit is classed under the Neurosciences research area.
