It catalyzes the isomerization of maleylacetoacetate to fumarylacetoacetate and supports glutathione-dependent detoxification in hepatic tissue. The Assay Genie kit quantifies GSTZ1 protein levels in clinical samples, supporting investigations into inborn errors of metabolism, drug biotransformation, and oxidative stress biology.
