Human Growth/differentiation factor 8 (MSTN) ELISA Kit

A sandwich-format immunoassay from Assay Genie, the Human Growth/differentiation factor 8 (MSTN) ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of MSTN (also known as myostatin, GDF-8 or GDF8) in human samples. Validated sample types are serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human Growth/differentiation factor 8. MSTN acts specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth, supporting research into muscle biology, muscle wasting and related disorders.

Quantitative performance includes a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.039 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.6% and inter-assay CV is 8.5%. Linearity was validated across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16, with serum (N=5) recoveries of 95–105%, 90–101%, 106–115% and 102–112% respectively; EDTA plasma (N=5) at 105–113%, 110–120%, 98–110% and 103–113%; and heparin plasma (N=5) at 102–111%, 99–109%, 86–96% and 110–120%. Spike-and-recovery in undiluted samples gave averages of 88% (range 82–94%) for serum and 90% (range 84–96%) for plasma. The kit is for research use only.
