Human GPX1/Glutathione Peroxidase 1 ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides a sandwich ELISA for the quantitative measurement of human Glutathione Peroxidase 1 (GPX1) in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The colourimetric assay runs in approximately 3 h 30 min and recognises natural and recombinant human GPX1, with the manufacturer stating no significant cross-reactivity or interference between human GPX1 and analogues. Samples are loaded at 100 µL per well.

Reported performance values differ between product variants. One human-format variant lists a sensitivity of 18.75 pg/mL, a detection range of 31.25–2000 pg/mL, a recovery range of 80–120%, an intra-assay CV range of 4.53–5.22% and an inter-assay CV range of 6.99–8.56%, with EDTA plasma recovery of 86–98% (average 91%) and cell culture media recovery of 86–100% (average 91%). Another human-format variant reports a detection range of 12.5–800 U/mL, a sensitivity of 3.12 U/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.3%, an inter-assay CV of 6.7%, serum recovery averaging 101% (range 95–107%) and plasma recovery averaging 103% (range 97–109%).

GPX1 is a cytoplasmic selenoprotein that catalyses the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and lipid hydroperoxides by glutathione, protecting cells from oxidative damage and erythrocyte haemoglobin from oxidative breakdown. The UniProt entry (P07203) describes the protein as a homotetramer that interacts with MIEN1. Research applications highlighted by the supplier include cancer, cell biology, metabolism, signal transduction and neurosciences, and the kits are labelled for research use only.
