The GPD1L quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure Glycerol-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase 1-Like protein in human biological specimens. GPD1L is a cytosolic NAD+/NADH-dependent enzyme that participates in the glycerol-3-phosphate shuttle, a metabolic bridge connecting cytosolic and mitochondrial redox balance during glucose and lipid catabolism. Because the enzyme modulates cardiac voltage-gated sodium channel function, dysregulated GPD1L activity has been implicated in inherited arrhythmia syndromes such as Brugada syndrome, idiopathic ventricular fibrillation, and sudden unexplained nocturnal death.

Investigators in cardiac electrophysiology, mitochondrial metabolism, and redox biology can apply the kit to in vitro quantification of native GPD1L protein in translational research settings. The assay supports studies of variant alleles such as A280V that alter enzyme kinetics, investigation of glycerol-3-phosphate shuttle flux under hypoxic or diabetic challenge, and evaluation of GPD1L as a candidate biomarker in cardiomyopathy cohorts. Recombinant protein standards supplied with the kit allow construction of a calibration curve for inter-sample comparison.

Each kit is supplied as a complete package containing a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, assay standards, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, chromogenic substrate solution, and stop reagent, sufficient for one full plate of samples. The reagents are intended for research use only, supporting basic and translational laboratory workflows in academic, clinical, and pharmaceutical research environments.
