Description

Designed for the quantitative measurement of human Glyoxalase I (GLO1), this sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie uses a double-antibody format with colorimetric detection. The kit is validated for use with serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysates, and other liquid samples.

Glyoxalase I is a key enzyme responsible for detoxifying methylglyoxal, a cytotoxic byproduct of glucose metabolism. Dysregulation of glyoxalase I has been implicated in diseases including diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders, making it a potential biomarker for understanding these conditions and developing targeted therapies. The target is also known by several synonyms, including Glyoxalase Domain Containing 1, Aldoketomutase, Ketone-aldehyde mutase, Methylglyoxalase, and Lactoylglutathione lyase.

The assay reports a sensitivity of 0.938 ng/mL and an assay range of 1.563–100 ng/mL. Linearity has been demonstrated across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma, with recovery ranges of 86–105% (serum, average 96%), 85–105% (EDTA plasma, average 95%), and 86–103% (heparin plasma, average 94%). The workflow includes primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labeled detection antibody binding for 60 minutes, HRP-Streptavidin incubation for 30 minutes, TMB substrate color development in the dark, and absorbance measurement at 450 nm. Reagents are stored at 2–8°C for 12 months.
