Human Glycoprotein-N-acetylgalactosamine 3-beta-galactosyltransferase 1 (C1GALT1) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Glycoprotein-N-acetylgalactosamine 3-beta-galactosyltransferase 1 (C1GALT1). C1GALT1 is a key glycosyltransferase that generates the core 1 O-glycan Gal-beta1-3GalNAc-alpha1-Ser/Thr (T antigen), a precursor for many extended O-glycans in glycoproteins, and plays a central role in processes such as angiogenesis, thrombopoiesis and kidney homeostasis development. Dysregulation of C1GALT1 has been implicated in diseases including cancer and inflammatory disorders, making accurate measurement relevant to glycobiology research.

The assay is intended for use with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and is specific for natural and recombinant human C1GALT1. According to the manufacturer's datasheet, the kit has a detection range of 0.625-40ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.327ng/mL. The target protein is a homodimer (disulfide-linked) that localises as a single-pass type II membrane protein, belongs to the glycosyltransferase 31 family (Beta3-Gal-T subfamily), and has a reported molecular weight of 35,935 Da (UniProt Q9NS00). Synonymous names include B3Gal-T8, Core 1 O-glycan T-synthase, Core 1 beta1,3-galactosyltransferase 1, C1GalT1 and Core 1 beta3-Gal-T1.
