GSK3β (Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 Beta) is a constitutively active serine/threonine protein kinase of approximately 46 kDa that governs glycogen synthesis, the Wnt/β-catenin signaling cascade, and insulin signal transduction. Dysregulated GSK3β activity is a focus of research in type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, bipolar disorder, and oncology, where the kinase contributes to tau hyperphosphorylation, neuronal apoptosis, and tumor cell proliferation.

From Assay Genie, this microplate-based quantitation kit is supplied with pre-coated wells, detection antibody, lyophilized standards, substrate, and wash buffer. It has been validated specifically for human GSK3β and accepts tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and supernatant samples, supporting workflows ranging from cultured cell models to primary tissue biopsies.

Unopened components should be stored refrigerated; reconstituted reagents are best aliquoted and frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles that can compromise antibody performance. For orthogonal validation, researchers commonly pair this ELISA with western blot analysis, kinase activity profiling, or immunohistochemistry on matched samples, yielding a multi-modal picture of GSK3β abundance and Ser9 phosphorylation state.
