Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Glycogen phosphorylase, muscle form (PYGM), also known as Myophosphorylase. The assay is intended for research use and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It recognises natural and recombinant human PYGM.

PYGM is an important allosteric enzyme in carbohydrate metabolism, catalysing the breakdown of glycogen into glucose in muscle tissue. The protein functions as a homodimer, with dimers associating into a tetramer to form the enzymatically active phosphorylase A. Dysregulation of PYGM has been linked to metabolic disorders, and mutations in the gene are associated with McArdle disease (Glycogen Storage Disease V).

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.079 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 7.9% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. UniProt accession: P11217.
