Description

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of human Glycogen phosphorylase, brain form (PYGB) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and has been validated for use with human samples. It offers a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL with a sensitivity of 9.8pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.2% and an inter-assay CV of 8.5%. The kit specifically recognizes natural and recombinant human PYGB.

PYGB is a key allosteric enzyme in carbohydrate metabolism that catalyzes the rate-determining step in glycogen degradation. Belonging to the glycogen phosphorylase family (EC 2.4.1.1), the protein forms homodimers that can associate into homotetramers representing the enzymatically active form. With UniProt accession P11216 and a molecular weight of 96,696 Da, PYGB is encoded by a gene located on chromosome 20p11.21. Dysregulation of PYGB has been linked to metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer, making it a valuable biomarker for research into these conditions.
