Human Glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and recognizes both natural and recombinant human GNMT, with a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.12 ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.3% and an inter-assay CV of 8.4%.

GNMT (EC 2.1.1.20) is a cytoplasmic, homotetrameric enzyme that catalyzes the methylation of glycine by S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) to form N-methylglycine (sarcosine) and S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy), and has been implicated in the regulation of tissue AdoMet concentration and methionine metabolism. Defects in GNMT cause glycine N-methyltransferase deficiency (GNMT deficiency), also known as hypermethioninemia, which is associated with mild hepatomegaly and chronic elevation of serum transaminases. The kit is for research use only and is suited to cell biology research.
