Glutathione reductase (GR, EC 1.8.1.7) maintains cellular redox balance by catalyzing the NADPH-dependent reduction of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) to its reduced form (GSH). The Assay Genie Human Glutathione Reductase (GR) ELISA Kit delivers quantitative measurement of GR in human research specimens using a microplate-based immunoassay format. Investigators studying oxidative stress, antioxidant capacity, hepatic function, or toxicology pair GR quantification with assays for catalase, glutathione peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase activity.

Validated for human samples including serum samples, plasma fractions, tissue homogenates, and cell lysates, the kit is calibrated for human GR with no meaningful cross-reactivity toward non-human species tested. The microplate format provides 96 determinations per run, read on a standard plate reader at the substrate-appropriate wavelength after chromogenic development.

Each kit ships with a pre-coated antibody plate, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, chromogenic substrate, wash buffer, standards, and a detailed protocol. Typical workflows involve sample collection or cell lysis, optional dilution, plate incubation with detection reagents, washing, color development, and absorbance measurement. Researchers commonly pair GR measurement with Western blot validation or parallel GSH/GSSG ratio assessment by enzymatic methods. Storage under refrigerated conditions preserves antibody binding activity across multiple uses.
