Description
Assay Genie provides a sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of human glutamine synthetase (GLUL) in research samples. The assay is reactive with human samples and has been validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is supplied in a solid-phase format, is intended for research use only, and is shipped at +4°C, with components stored at -20°C and 4°C as detailed in the component list.
Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 9.1pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.8% and inter-assay CV is 7.7%. Linearity testing in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma produced recovery values between 87% and 117% across serial dilutions. Spike-and-recovery values average 95% for serum (range 89-101%) and 97% for plasma (range 91-103%). The antibody pair recognises both natural and recombinant human glutamine synthetase.
Glutamine synthetase (synonyms: Glutamate--ammonia ligase, Palmitoyltransferase GLUL, GS, GLNS) catalyses the ATP-dependent conversion of glutamate and ammonia to glutamine. The enzyme is studied within the neurosciences research area, where its regulation of ammonia and glutamate levels in the brain is of particular interest. The target is associated with UniProt entry P15104 and is localised primarily to the cytosol, with a fraction associated with the cell membrane.
