The colorimetric assay is validated for use with serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid sample types.

GLUT2, also referred to as SLC2A2 (UniProt P11168), is a facilitative glucose transporter predominantly expressed in the liver, pancreas, and intestines, where it supports glucose uptake and metabolism. Altered GLUT2 expression has been associated with diabetes and other metabolic disorders, making the protein a useful biomarker for related research within the signal transduction area.

The kit reports a sensitivity of 0.375 ng/mL and a measurable range of 0.625-40 ng/mL. Reagents are stored at 2-8°C for up to 12 months. The workflow uses a biotinylated detection antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin and TMB substrate, with absorbance read at 450 nm. Spiking recovery in serum averaged 95% (range 91-98%); EDTA plasma averaged 91% (range 85-99%); heparin plasma averaged 94% (range 90-100%). Linearity for serum at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions was 85-105%, 84-99% and 85-100% respectively.
