Accurate measurement of this peptide in circulation requires immediate DPP-IV inhibition during plasma collection—typically with aprotinin or a commercial protease inhibitor cocktail—because the analyte is rapidly cleaved in whole blood, which is why fasting and postprandial incretin studies rely on rigorously standardized pre-analytical handling.
