Human Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) ELISA Kit

The Assay Genie Human Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) ELISA Kit is a sandwich ELISA designed for the precise measurement of GFAP in human biological samples. GFAP is a class-III intermediate filament that serves as a cell-specific marker distinguishing astrocytes from other glial cells during central nervous system development, and elevated GFAP levels have been associated with traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis.

The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. It demonstrates a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.12ng/mL. Performance characteristics include an intra-assay CV of 5.8%, an inter-assay CV of 9.2%, serum recovery of 103% (range 97-109%) and plasma recovery of 105% (range 99-111%). Linearity has been confirmed across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. The kit recognizes natural and recombinant human GFAP and is intended for research use only within the neurosciences research area.
