Human Ghrelin O-acyltransferase (MBOAT4) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of human Ghrelin O-acyltransferase (MBOAT4), also referenced by synonyms such as GOAT, OACT4, FKSG89, Membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing protein 4, and O-acyltransferase domain-containing protein 4. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The target enzyme mediates the octanoylation of ghrelin at Ser-3 and can use a variety of fatty acids as substrates, including octanoic acid, decanoic acid and tetradecanoic acid, making it relevant to research into appetite regulation, energy balance, metabolism, obesity and eating disorders.

The assay is reactive with human samples and reports a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.1ng/mL. Precision figures include an intra-assay CV of 5.9% and an inter-assay CV of 10.1%. Linearity was assessed across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at serial dilutions. Recovery testing returned an average of 101% for serum (range 95-107%) and 103% for plasma (range 97-109%). Specificity is confirmed against natural and recombinant human Ghrelin O-acyltransferase.

The target is a multi-pass membrane protein localised to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane (UniProt Q96T53) and has a reported molecular weight of 37,721 Da. The kit is intended for research use only.
