Human GFAP ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this colorimetric double-antibody sandwich ELISA kit enables precise measurement of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) levels in human samples, including serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, cell or tissue lysates, and other liquid samples. GFAP is a critical protein found in astrocytes within the brain and spinal cord, and elevated levels have been linked to neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's and multiple sclerosis. Researchers can use this kit to gain insights into the extent of brain damage and to monitor disease progression.

The kit has a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a detection range of 0.313–20 ng/mL, and is stored at 2–8°C for 12 months. Linearity performance is strong across sample matrices, with serum at 1:2 to 1:8 dilutions yielding 81–104%, EDTA plasma 85–103%, and heparin plasma 84–105%. Recovery rates average 94% for serum, 94% for EDTA plasma, and 97% for heparin plasma.

The assay procedure involves equilibrating reagents and TMB substrate to room temperature, followed by primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labelled detection antibody binding at 37°C for 60 minutes, HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) binding at 37°C for 30 minutes, TMB colour development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, and a stop reaction with absorbance measured at 450 nm.
