Quantitative measurement of glycogen branching enzyme (GBE1) in research samples is enabled by this immunoassay from Assay Genie. GBE1 encodes the 1,4-alpha-glucan branching enzyme responsible for transferring alpha-1,4-linked glucose segments to alpha-1,6 branch points during glycogen biosynthesis, and loss-of-function mutations in this gene cause glycogen storage disease type IV (Andersen disease).

Researchers investigating inherited metabolic myopathies, hepatic glycogen accumulation, or polyglucosan body formation in neurological tissues can use the kit to assess GBE1 protein levels across case and control cohorts. The 96 Assays format supports medium-throughput screening, and the assay is calibrated for quantitative detection of the human target.
