The Assay Genie Human Gastrin Releasing Peptide (GRP) ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of GRP, a 27-amino acid regulatory neuropeptide originally isolated from porcine gastric tissue and known to stimulate gastrin secretion from antral G cells. Because GRP acts as an autocrine growth factor in several malignancies and is frequently investigated as a biomarker candidate in small cell lung carcinoma and other neuroendocrine tumors, this kit is commonly used in oncology, gastrointestinal physiology, and neuropeptide signalling research. The competitive immunoassay format is run on a microplate and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatant samples, supporting diverse experimental workflows from in vitro cell-based studies to clinical sample screening. Standard wells, blanks, and unknowns are incubated together with anti-GRP antibody, and bound analyte is revealed through an enzymatic substrate reaction read on a standard plate reader. Standard curves are typically constructed in the pg/mL to ng/mL range, and the assay shows no significant cross-reactivity with related bombesin-family peptides such as neuromedin B, allowing selective quantification of human GRP. Reagent vials should be stored refrigerated at 4 °C and protected from light, with unused strips resealed in the foil pouch with desiccant to preserve antibody activity across limited freeze-thaw cycles of the reconstituted standard. Researchers commonly pair this kit with PCR or western blot validation when profiling neuropeptide release, and the product is intended for research use only.
