Human Gastrin (GAST) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Gastrin (synonym: GAS) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It is intended for research use only and is relevant to studies in gastrointestinal physiology and pathology, including work on gastrinomas and peptic ulcers, as well as to research area applications in cancer.

Manufacturer-stated performance includes a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 4.2pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.3% and inter-assay CV is 7.2%. Reported linearity for serum (N=5) across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions is 96-106%, 90-100%, 106-114% and 112-122%; EDTA plasma (N=5) gives 106-117%, 93-102%, 96-106% and 84-96%; heparin plasma (N=5) gives 113-123%, 109-120%, 91-101% and 102-111%. Average recovery is 100% (range 94-106) for serum and 102% (range 96-108) for plasma. Specificity is stated for natural and recombinant human Gastrin.

Gastrin is a secreted peptide hormone that stimulates the gastric mucosa to produce and secrete hydrochloric acid and the pancreas to secrete its digestive enzymes; it also stimulates smooth muscle contraction and increases blood circulation and water secretion in the stomach and intestine.
