Human Galectin-8 (LGALS8) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human galectin-8 (LGALS8) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Detection is by colorimetric ELISA, with reactivity limited to human samples and specificity for natural and recombinant human galectin-8.

Performance specifications include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.156 ng/mL. Precision is given as an intra-assay CV of 7.1% and an inter-assay CV of 10.9%. Dilutional linearity has been validated across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions in serum (106–116%, 98–108%, 108–117%, 98–108%), EDTA plasma (96–109%, 93–105%, 111–120%, 100–110%) and heparin plasma (104–113%, 102–112%, 95–106%, 90–101%). Recovery averages 91% (range 85–97%) for serum and 93% (range 87–99%) for plasma.

Galectin-8, also known as Po66 carbohydrate-binding protein, Prostate carcinoma tumor antigen 1, Po66-CBP, PCTA-1 and Gal-8, is a beta-galactoside-binding lectin with roles in cell adhesion, apoptosis and immune response modulation. It acts as a sensor of membrane damage during infection and restricts pathogen proliferation by targeting invaders for autophagy.
