Human Galectin 8/GAL8 ELISA Kit

Developed by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit uses a double-antibody format with colorimetric detection to quantify human Galectin-8 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The assay reports a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a measuring range of 0.313-20 ng/mL, with reactivity restricted to human samples (Uniprot O00214; gene LGALS8, synonyms include GAL8, PCTA1, and Gal-8).

Stability is supported by storage at 2-8°C for 12 months. Dilution linearity (1:2, 1:4, 1:8) was 89-104%, 83-98%, and 80-98% in serum; 88-104%, 84-101%, and 82-99% in EDTA plasma; and 87-105%, 84-94%, and 80-97% in heparin plasma. Spike recovery averaged 92% in serum (range 85-98%), 96% in EDTA plasma (range 87-104%), and 93% in heparin plasma (range 86-101%).

The protocol covers reagent equilibration, a 90-minute primary incubation at 37°C, a 60-minute biotin-labelled detection antibody step, a 30-minute HRP-streptavidin binding step, TMB colour development in the dark for 10-20 minutes, and an absorbance read at 450 nm after stop solution. Galectin-8 contributes to cell adhesion, migration and signalling, and its dysregulation has been linked to cancer, inflammation and autoimmune disorders.
