Human Galectin-3 (LGALS3) ELISA Kit

An immunoassay in Sandwich ELISA format from Assay Genie, intended for the quantitative detection of human Galectin-3 (LGALS3), also referred to in the literature as the 35 kDa lectin, Mac-2 antigen and IgE-binding protein. The kit is reactive with human samples and is validated for use with serum and plasma, while the manufacturer's documentation also lists tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids as compatible matrices. Specificity is stated for natural and recombinant human Galectin-3. Galectin-3 is described as a galactose-specific lectin and a multifunctional protein implicated in cell adhesion, inflammation and cancer progression, and is being investigated in connection with cardiovascular disease, fibrosis and oncology. The product is labelled for research use only.

Detection is colorimetric and read by standard ELISA instrumentation. The manufacturer's specification sheet states a detection range of 62.5-4000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 30pg/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 4.9% and an inter-assay CV of 7.5%. Linearity is documented for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across serial dilutions, and recovery is reported for serum (average 100%, range 94-106%) and plasma (average 102%, range 96-108%) matrices.
