Human Galectin-1 (LGALS1) ELISA Kit

The assay uses a colorimetric ELISA detection method and is specific to natural and recombinant human Galectin-1. Key performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78-50ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.33ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 3.7% and an inter-assay CV of 7.0%. Linearity has been validated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma, and recovery is reported as 95% (89-101%) for serum and 97% (91-103%) for plasma.

Galectin-1 is a lectin that binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates, and plays a role in regulating apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. It functions as a homodimer that interacts with LGALS3BP and with several CD markers including CD2, CD3, CD4, CD6, CD7, CD43, CD45 and ALCAM, as well as with laminin. The protein is secreted and localised to the extracellular space and extracellular matrix, and is associated with research in cancer. With a molecular weight of 14,716 Da (UniProt: P09382), the kit is intended for research use only.
