Quantitative measurement of human UDP-galactose-4-epimerase (GALE) is supported by this immunoassay kit from Assay Genie. GALE catalyzes the interconversion of UDP-galactose and UDP-glucose within the Leloir pathway of galactose metabolism, and altered expression of this epimerase has been linked to type III galactosemia and to broader shifts in cellular glycan biosynthesis.

The reagent is intended for investigators characterizing carbohydrate metabolism, glycosylation disorders, or inherited epimerase deficiencies in human specimens. Supplied as a 96-assay kit with all reagents required to generate a standard curve and run samples, the protocol is compatible with conventional microplate absorbance readers.
