Human GAD2/GAD65 ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides a Sandwich ELISA built on a Double Antibody configuration, intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of Human GAD2 concentrations in serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. The assay targets GAD2 and GAD65, enzymes responsible for synthesising gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter central to regulating neuronal activity in the central nervous system. Dysregulation of these enzymes has been linked to neurological disorders including epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and schizophrenia, positioning them as targets of interest for biomarker and therapeutic research.

Performance characteristics quoted by the manufacturer include a sensitivity of 0.094ng/ml and a working range of 0.156-10ng/ml. Spike-and-recovery testing yielded average recoveries of 94% for serum (range 90-97%, n=5), 99% for EDTA plasma (range 96-104%, n=5), and 98% for UFH plasma (range 93-101%, n=5). Linearity, assessed by serial dilution of spiked samples, returned the following ranges across 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions respectively: serum 86-104%, 92-104%, 89-104%; EDTA plasma 89-99%, 90-95%, 83-100%; UFH plasma 84-100%, 81-99%, 89-95%. Precision is reported as intra-assay CV<8% and inter-assay CV<10%.

GAD2 (UniProt Q05329; NCBI Gene ID 2572) is classified as a homodimer belonging to the group II decarboxylase family (EC 4.1.1.15). The kit is supplied for research use only and components are stored at 4°C for 6 months.
