Description

Designed for the accurate measurement of Glutamate Decarboxylase 1 in human samples, this colorimetric, sandwich-format ELISA kit from Assay Genie is intended for research use across a range of neuroscience applications. GAD1, also known as glutamic acid decarboxylase 1, is the enzyme responsible for converting glutamate into the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and its dysfunction has been implicated in neurological conditions including epilepsy, schizophrenia, and movement disorders.

The assay accepts serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, with reactivity confirmed for human specimens. Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 0.938 ng/mL and a measuring range of 1.563–100 ng/mL. Kit components are supplied for use at 2–8°C storage, and the protocol involves sequential incubation with biotin-labelled detection antibody and HRP-Streptavidin conjugate, followed by TMB substrate development and absorbance reading at 450 nm. Linearity has been demonstrated in serum (86–105%), EDTA plasma (80–105%) and heparin plasma (82–101%), with recoveries ranging from 85–104% across the same matrices.
