Description

A sandwich ELISA designed by Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of human Forkhead box protein C2 (FOXC2), also known by the synonyms Forkhead-related protein FKHL14, Mesenchyme fork head protein 1, Transcription factor FKH-14, MFH-1 protein, FKHL14, and MFH1. The assay is reactive with human samples and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant human FOXC2. It is intended for research use only and is applicable to the stem cell research area, where FOXC2's role as a transcription factor localised to the nucleus is of interest.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.056ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is reported at 4.2% CV and inter-assay precision at 7.8% CV. Linearity across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions is reported for serum (N=5): 99-109%, 104-113%, 104-114%, 82-92%; EDTA plasma (N=5): 102-113%, 89-99%, 93-105%, 106-116%; and heparin plasma (N=5): 107-115%, 90-100%, 94-103%, 102-111%. Recovery is reported for serum at an average of 86% (range 80-92%) and plasma at an average of 88% (range 82-94%).

FOXC2 (UniProt Q99958; NCBI Gene ID 2303) is described as a transcriptional activator that may be involved in the formation of special mesenchymal tissues, with a reported molecular weight of 53,719 Da. Dysregulation of FOXC2 has been linked to diseases such as cancer, obesity, and lymphedema, highlighting its relevance as a potential biomarker for disease diagnosis and therapeutic development.
