FSHB is the beta subunit of follicle-stimulating hormone, a secreted heterodimer composed of a common alpha chain and a unique beta chain that confers biological specificity within the glycoprotein hormones family. The protein stimulates development of ovarian follicles and spermatogenesis in the reproductive organs.
