Description

This Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Fibrinogen beta chain (FGB) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. FGB is a key component of fibrinogen, a blood-borne glycoprotein essential for blood clotting and wound healing. Dysregulation of FGB levels has been linked to cardiovascular diseases, liver disorders, and thrombosis, making the kit a useful tool for research into these conditions. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with human samples only.

The assay delivers a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.12 ng/mL. Reproducibility is supported by an intra-assay CV of 6.5% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. Linearity has been validated across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 in serum (89–111%), EDTA plasma (81–124%), and heparin plasma (82–118%) samples. Spike-and-recovery performance in serum averaged 100% (range 94–106%) and in plasma averaged 102% (range 96–108%).

At the protein level, FGB circulates as a heterohexamer composed of two sets of three non-identical chains (alpha, beta and gamma) joined by disulfide bonds, with the two heterotrimers arranged in head-to-head conformation. The beta chain (UniProt P02675) is a secreted protein that is cleaved by thrombin to yield fibrin monomers, which polymerize to form the insoluble fibrin matrix central to hemostasis. The kit shows specificity for both natural and recombinant human Fibrinogen beta chain and is intended for research use only.
