Human Fibrinogen alpha chain (FGA) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Fibrinogen alpha chain (FGA), UniProt entry P02671 (FIBA_HUMAN). It is intended for research use only and is reactive with human samples, with protocols provided for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, cell lysates, tissue homogenates, tissue lysates and breast milk.

The stated assay range is 0.78-50 ng/mL, with colour development read at 450 nm using a microplate reader. Fibrinogen alpha chain is the alpha component of fibrinogen, a blood-borne glycoprotein that is cleaved by thrombin to form fibrin, the most abundant component of blood clots, and that also acts as a cofactor in platelet aggregation. Defects in FGA are associated with congenital afibrinogenemia, congenital dysfibrinogenemia and amyloidosis type 8, a hereditary systemic non-neuropathic amyloidosis. The protein has a molecular weight of 69,757 Da, is encoded on chromosome 4q28 (NCBI Gene ID 2243; accession P02671.2), is secreted with a signal peptide, and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms.
