Human Ferritin, mitochondrial (FTMT) ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the precise measurement of mitochondrial ferritin (FTMT) levels in human serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants using a colorimetric detection method. FTMT is a key mitochondrial protein involved in iron homeostasis, storing iron in a soluble, non-toxic form through its ferroxidase activity.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.625-40ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.32ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.9% and inter-assay CV is 7.2%. Linearity testing in serum (N=5) yielded 88-100% at 1:2, 102-112% at 1:4, 82-92% at 1:8, and 105-117% at 1:16. EDTA plasma (N=5) showed 89-98%, 106-115%, 107-119%, and 100-109% at the same dilutions, while heparin plasma (N=5) ranged from 85-95%, 105-115%, 80-90%, and 104-114%. Recovery averaged 97% in serum (range 91-103%) and 99% in plasma (range 93-105%). The kit specifically detects natural and recombinant human mitochondrial ferritin.

FTMT maps to chromosomal location 5q23.1 and functions as a homooligomer of 24 subunits localised to the mitochondrion, with a reported molecular weight of 28kDa (UniProt Q8N4E7). Dysregulation of FTMT has been linked to iron overload disorders and neurodegenerative conditions, making this kit a valuable research tool for investigating iron metabolism and mitochondrial function in health and disease.
