Human Fatty acid synthase (FASN) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie offers a sandwich ELISA kit designed for the quantitative detection of human fatty acid synthase (FASN), also referred to as FAS. The colorimetric assay is reactive with human samples and accepts serum and plasma, with additional compatibility reported for tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. Specificity is reported for natural and recombinant human fatty acid synthase, and the kit is highlighted for cardiovascular research applications.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.1 ng/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 8.1% and an inter-assay CV of 10.4%. Linearity data are provided across dilution factors of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. Recovery in serum averages 102% (range 96–108%) and in plasma averages 104% (range 98–110%).

Fatty acid synthase is described as a multifunctional enzyme that catalyses the formation of long-chain fatty acids from acetyl-CoA, malonyl-CoA and NADPH, playing a central role in lipid metabolism and energy production. Dysregulation of FASN has been linked in the literature to cancer, obesity and metabolic disorders, making it a candidate biomarker for studies of disease progression.
