Erythroferrone, the protein encoded by the FAM132A gene, is a hormone produced by maturing erythroblasts that suppresses hepatic hepcidin (HAMP) expression and thereby mobilizes stored iron for hemoglobin synthesis. The Human FAM132A ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables researchers to quantify erythroferrone levels in human-derived samples including tissue homogenates and cell lysates.
Applications of this assay span studies of iron homeostasis and the regulatory loop between erythropoiesis and hepcidin production, including thalassemia and sickle cell disease research, anemia of chronic disease, and the molecular response to erythropoiesis-stimulating agents.
The microplate-format kit delivers results via an absorbance-based chromogenic reaction and is calibrated for research use only with human specimens, supporting work in hematology, nutritional iron research, and transfusion medicine investigations.
