Description

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of human Eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase (EEF2K) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The kit is intended for research use only and supports investigations in cardiovascular research.

EEF2K is an atypical, calcium/calmodulin-dependent threonine kinase also known as calcium/calmodulin-dependent eukaryotic elongation factor 2 kinase or eEF-2 kinase. It regulates protein synthesis by phosphorylating eukaryotic elongation factor 2 (EEF2) at a single site, rendering it unable to bind ribosomes and thereby reducing peptide-chain elongation. Dysregulation of EEF2K has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for understanding these conditions and for investigation of potential therapeutic interventions.

The assay uses a colorimetric detection method with a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39.28pg/mL. Specificity has been validated against natural and recombinant human EEF2K. Reported linearity across serial dilutions (1:2 to 1:16) for serum (N=5) ranges from 90-99% to 107-120%, for EDTA plasma (N=5) from 86-98% to 110-119%, and for heparin plasma (N=5) from 91-101% to 106-118%.
