The Espin (ESPN) protein is a calcium-insensitive actin-bundling factor that cross-links parallel filaments to form the rigid paracrystalline core of stereocilia, the mechanosensory projections of cochlear and vestibular hair cells. Loss-of-function mutations in the ESPN gene cause autosomal recessive non-syndromic hearing loss (DFNB36), and altered Espin expression has been documented in studies of hair cell regeneration, age-related auditory decline, and cytoskeletal remodeling in sensory epithelia.

Assay Genie's Human Espin ELISA supports quantitative measurement of circulating Espin protein, giving research teams a tool to investigate otology, hearing-loss biomarkers, and inner-ear therapeutics. The kit ships with all reagents required for 96 individual measurements and is intended for research use only, including biomarker discovery in clinical cohorts and protein-expression profiling in cell culture and tissue-extract studies.
