EPX is an enzyme found predominantly in eosinophils, a type of white blood cell involved in immune responses and inflammation. Elevated levels of EPX have been linked to inflammatory conditions including asthma, allergies, and parasitic infections. The assay detects natural and recombinant human Eosinophil peroxidase, with a reported detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 34pg/mL. Reported precision values include an intra-assay CV of 5.1% and an inter-assay CV of 9.6%.

EPX (UniProt P11678) mediates tyrosine nitration of secondary granule proteins in mature resting eosinophils and shows significant inhibitory activity towards Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv. The protein functions as a tetramer of two light chains and two heavy chains and is localised to the cytoplasmic granules of eosinophils. For research use only.
