To quantify ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 7, also known as alkaline sphingomyelinase, the Assay Genie ENPP-7/Alk-Smase PharmaGenie ELISA supports research into sphingolipid metabolism in human specimens. This enzyme hydrolyzes sphingomyelin at the small intestinal brush border, generating ceramide — a lipid mediator linked to mucosal barrier integrity, apoptotic signaling, and the pathophysiology of colorectal carcinoma and atherosclerosis.

Plasma, serum, and cell culture supernatant samples are all compatible with this kit, supporting translational workflows in lipid biochemistry, gastrointestinal disease research, and biomarker discovery programs.
