Quantify mitochondrial ETFDH protein levels with this colorimetric ELISA Kit from Assay Genie, configured for 96 assays and validated for human tissue homogenates and cell lysates. ETFDH (Electron Transferring Flavoprotein Dehydrogenase) is a flavoprotein anchored to the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it accepts electrons from electron-transfer flavoprotein (ETF) and passes them to the ubiquinone pool of the respiratory chain. By linking fatty acid β-oxidation and several amino acid catabolic pathways to oxidative phosphorylation, ETFDH sits at a metabolic hub whose dysfunction is clinically significant.

Mutations in ETFDH cause Multiple Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MADD), also known as Glutaric Acidemia Type II, an inherited disorder of fatty-acid and amino-acid oxidation that presents with myopathy, hepatopathy, encephalopathy, and in severe infantile cases, cardiomyopathy. The kit supports research into mitochondrial metabolic disorders, including riboflavin-responsive MADD, by providing a quantitative readout of ETFDH expression in patient-derived material and cellular disease models.

Each kit includes a pre-coated microplate and the reagents needed for the colorimetric immunoassay workflow, and is intended for research use only. It is a relevant tool for laboratories investigating mitochondrial bioenergetics, oxidative phosphorylation, and the molecular pathology of metabolic myopathies.
