Description

This Assay Genie colorimetric Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative detection of Human Electron transfer flavoprotein subunit beta (ETFB), also referred to by the synonyms FP585 and Beta-ETF. The kit is intended for research applications in the fields of metabolism, biochemistry, and molecular biology, including studies of mitochondrial function and related disorders, and is labeled for research use only.

Reactive with human samples, the assay accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and is specific for both natural and recombinant human ETFB. Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.12ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 3.6% and an inter-assay CV of 7.2%. Linearity was evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 (N=5). Recovery averaged 98% (range 92-104%) in serum and 100% (range 94-106%) in plasma.

ETFB is a subunit of the mitochondrial electron transfer flavoprotein, which is a heterodimer composed of ETFA and ETFB and localizes to the mitochondrial matrix. The protein functions as a specific electron acceptor for several dehydrogenases, including five acyl-CoA dehydrogenases, glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenase and sarcosine dehydrogenase, transferring electrons to the main mitochondrial respiratory chain via ETF-ubiquinone oxidoreductase (ETF dehydrogenase).
