Quantitative measurement of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A-2 in research samples is supported by the Assay Genie EIF5A2 ELISA Kit, which provides reagents and pre-coated microplate wells for 96 reactions. EIF5A2 is encoded on chromosome 3q26 and participates in peptide bond formation during the elongation phase of translation. Overexpression has been documented in hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, ovarian cancer, and non-small cell lung cancer, where it correlates with poor prognosis, metastasis, and resistance to chemotherapy.

Typical applications include cancer biomarker discovery, signal transduction studies, and investigation of translation elongation in cellular models. Each kit provides a precoated microplate, detection antibody concentrate, lyophilized standards, dilution buffers, wash concentrate, substrate solution, and stop solution. Reagents should be stored refrigerated and protected from light; reconstituted standards are best aliquoted and kept frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve long-term activity.

The assay is intended for quantifying EIF5A2 in human cell lysates, tissue homogenates, and samples prepared from serum or plasma fractions. Standard workflow involves standard and sample incubation, washing, detection antibody binding, substrate development, and absorbance readout on a microplate reader. The kit is supplied for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic procedures.
