Human EIF4EBP2 ELISA Kit (HUFI07951)

This translational-control immunoassay from Assay Genie quantifies eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-binding protein 2 (EIF4EBP2, also called 4E-BP2) in human research specimens. EIF4EBP2 represses cap-dependent mRNA translation when hypophosphorylated, and phosphorylation by mTOR complex 1 releases it from eIF4E, derepressing translation of 5' terminal oligopyrimidine (5'TOP) mRNAs.

Unlike EIF4EBP1, the 4E-BP2 isoform is highly expressed in the brain, where it regulates synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory through control of local translation. The kit supports neuroscience research into fragile X syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as cancer metabolism studies where translation initiation is dysregulated. Each kit provides reagents for 96 Assays and is supplied in a vial-based format.
