Description

A Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Ectodysplasin-A (EDA) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay detects natural and recombinant human Ectodysplasin-A with a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 20pg/mL.

Ectodysplasin-A is a type II membrane protein that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family and can be cleaved by furin to produce a secreted form. The protein acts as a homotrimer and is involved in epithelial-mesenchymal signaling during morphogenesis of ectodermal organs, including skin, hair, teeth and sweat glands. Defects in the EDA gene are associated with ectodermal dysplasia type 1 (also known as Christ-Siemens-Touraine syndrome or X-linked hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia) and with selective X-linked tooth agenesis type 1.

Reported performance includes an intra-assay CV of 4.4% and an inter-assay CV of 7.1%. Linearity in serum (N=5) was 90-99%, 88-98%, 97-107% and 92-104% at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions respectively; EDTA plasma showed 106-115%, 82-92%, 105-115% and 80-91%, and heparin plasma 96-107%, 109-119%, 107-117% and 98-108% over the same dilutions. Average recovery was 103% (range 97-109%) for serum and 105% (range 99-111%) for plasma. UniProt: Q92838. For research use only.
